Our keeping boxes are based upon the Early American style found in the early 1700's.

Sometimes a family member would make s mall or medium-size box to keep his or her personal treasures--documents, jewelry, keepsakes and so on.

Cherry, an American hardwood prized for its natural luster, attractive grain, and rich, warm glow, is combined here with a chocolate glaze. This glaze is applied by hand to give the cherry an aged look--a darker, richer color and helps bring out the natural texture of the wood.

Upon opening, the lid lifts back on the brass hinges to reveal a lift out tray. Lifting the tray allows access to the storage space beneath for larger items. The tray, just like the rest of the Keeping Box, is fashioned with the more traditional dovetail joints.

The dovetail joints and our hand rubbed chocolate glaze are just part of that sense of old world craftsmanship that we apply to every piece.
